I spent some some time building the machine but now I fear it has lost interest for me and I'm not going to finish it so I've decided to try to find someone who wants to buy it from me.

Yes you will have to wait some time... I don't expect to be able to ship parts much before January. And you are taking the risk of trusting some guy on the intertubes, hence the lower price. However not only do you get the parts nice and cheap, you get the warm fuzzy feeling of helping to ensure the suppy of printed parts, hence the lower price, Also Pre-orders will be shipped first.

-The complete material cost for the printed components for a Darwin is around $6 dollars for the plastic, and likely $4 dollars for electricity and other consumables.

The instructions clearly show the Mendel created parts being bolted together and then being bolted to laser cut or hand cut parts of flat material. I cant find the patterns for these flat parts anywhere.

$5.00 PTFE insulator
$10.00 Brass barrel/nozzle combination with a 0.5mm orifice

$2.50 shipping/handling to anywhere in the Continental US or Canada
$15.00 shipping/handling to other international locations


The total cost of a kit, for the US and Canada, will be $12.50.

In order to initially tool-up the machines to produce these kits I must request that there be at least 10 people interested in purchasing a kit as most of the cost incurred is in tooling up the machine. (I may have one person interested in purchasing a lot of 5 kits, at this time.)

If there is enough interest, I will be willing to make the plastic parts, for the extruder, as well.

I'm going to buy some colored, probably blue, ABS welding rod from a chinese supplier in the next week or so. The minimum order quantity for most of the suppliers is 50 kg, which is much more than I need.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying some of the extra plastic for $18/kg (~$8.18/lb) + shipping. If people are interested, but the majority want a color other than blue, I will buy 50 kg of that color instead.

If anyone is interested, please reply here with the amount they you would be interested in purchasing. I am located in Charlotte, NC, so if anyone lives nearby we can arrange for a pickup. Once I recieve the plastic, we can figure out exact details for payment and shipping method.

1. Does RepRap filament come in blue?
2. About how strong are the parts? I need Blue to be able to fall over, and be able to not shatter. In the vid, it shows hanging a backpack on it, but I don't know Reprap Filament's Impact strength. I plan for the robot to weigh approx. 5 to 10 kilos.

I'm Daniel. I'm just getting into DIY Tech, am in Miami, and would like to build a reprap for myself (and hopefully for others too!. Any advice/help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Any ideas on how to get parts from Alpha Prototypes and the RRRF?? I tried using the RepRap parts lister and can't seem to figure out what to do from there. The "buy" links either don't work (RRRF) or take me to a general website (Alpha Prototypes).

Also, does is Alpha supposed to produce the initial parts or is there some way I can make them myself? I'm a little overwhelmed. Please Help!
